Joaquín Alexandre Ruiz-Tarré, Finance Club President, Best President of the Year.

This year, Joaquín Alexadre Ruiz Tarré, IMBA 2007, has been elected President of the Year. The Finance Club activities and events were ranked best by the student survey. He has developed an excellent co-ordination among the school, the other club members, and the corporate world. His determination to search for and find sponsorship for the activities of the club has been outstanding.

IMBA08 student Alistair Clark has proposed a new initiative: the Emerging Markets Club. The mission statement he is proposing is posted below. If you would like to join the club, please fill out the Registration Form available at Campus Online.

Mission statement:

To educate and allow discussion regarding emerging markets FROM A FINANCIAL INVESTMENT PERSPECTIVE (fixed income, natural resources, industry, and real estate acquisition) amongst faculty, IE students, visiting professionals and anyone else related to the topic or the school who participates in meetings in a constructive fashion. The emphasized, but not exclusive, countries to be discussed are BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China). Please note that this is not a club for social awareness or one that emphasizes the environmental concerns for development in emerging markets; while this is an important topic, it is a different subject for another club like NetImpact.¨

Brent and Alfredo (IMBAs 2007) will present their case at New York JPMorgan HQ on December 6th and 7th, along with other finalist teams from Harvard, Columbia, Chicago, Standford, NYU and Cornell. IE is the only European Business School to reach the finals.
