As a part of our goal to reach enough funds to have the club running and to be able to provide fun for our members, we have organized a set of fundraising raffles for all of IE students.
The winner gets two tickets to watch the Real Madrid team at the Santiago Bernabeu and here we have the story of the experience of the one of the past winners.
We hope that more of you contribute to our team, helping us with the Club, and at the same time, winning these incredible tickets.
Our first winner was Carlos Tarrats and here you have his story:
Knowing that you are a few blocks away from the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, it's a unique opportunity that is not present everyday.
The IE Football Club, which I have to congratulate for the organization and energy, and the Student Office had a raffle to see the Real Madrid. I won the tickets and it was going to be my first time watching Real Madrid. It was a
critical match because many variables were playing at the same time (cutting points against Barcelona FC, leading La Liga). Going out of the Bernabeu metro station towards the stadium with all the fans, and watching all the faces wishing and praying for a victory was an amazing experience. The game was great in terms of suspense and performance but..., sadly, Real Madrid lost the game. This is football, sometimes you win and others you lose and that's the excitement of the game, because until the game it's over everything can happen.
Thanks again to the IE Football Club for this incredible experience!
The Net Impact & SR Clubs would like to thank all IE community for assisting the 1st Net Impact & SR Clubs
Pizza Gathering. Thanks to you we made profits that will be used in our next events as Global Village and Saint Valentine's Day. I hope you enjoy the day even though the weather did not accompany us.
See you next time!!!
The IE Football Club would like to thank the IE Community for their support to the Fundraising Pizza Gathering which took place last December. It was blessed from the beginning with a bright sun shining on the Serrano 99 Terrace. As soon as the clock struck 15 the crowd of students started to gather with enthusiasm.
Real Madrid tickets were raffled at the event and the lucky winners, Alexis Dos Santos and Enrique López, won 2 tickets each to visit the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and enjoy great games against top teams such as Valencia and Villareal, respectively. In Alexis' words "the game between Real Madrid and Valencia was excellent, the atmosphere at the stadium was very special...the seats are in a great location from where you can see the whole field".
The gathering was a great opportunity to spend time and chat with friends before the Christmas break while helping the Football Club. The funds will be used to cover part of the expenses of the upcoming business schools' tournaments.
The Club is very thankful to all the supporters, the volunteers, the staff and to every person who contributed to the event. We look forward to your ongoing kind support!

IE Consulting Club Kick-Off meeting took place on Thursday December 18th 2008, with close to 60 students in attendance. After a short networking moment, where participants gathered in Serrano and shared pizzas, the newly elected IE Consulting Club Leadership Team provided an overview of the 2009 team composition and interests, as well as plans for the following months.
Before the presentation we had a briefing on how IE graduates are placed in today's Consulting Industry provided by Wim Zwaenepoel, representing the IE Career Management Centre. With a difficult job market, he emphasized the importance of being prepared for the interview process in order to ensure success.
The focus this year for the IE Consulting Club Leadership Team will be creating awareness about firms and opportunities, preparing students for the selection process, and continuing to develop the IE brand within the consulting industry. The Leadership Team also shared results of the Consulting Club Survey, where members had conveyed areas of interest, firms and regions to be targeted, and programs that the membership
would like to see and help organize. The survey helped inform the overall strategy and was defined as a 3-phased process in which all activities will be serving the strategy: Understand, Get Ready and Connect.
Throughout the year, programs will be aligned to this strategy with events such as a Consulting Day, workshops and seminars, alumni networking events, and a Case Competition.

According to the World Bank, Georgia is a small transition economy with a population of about 4.5 million people and a gross national income (GNI) per capita of US$1,560. Its location on the "Silk Road" between Europe and Asia has made it a transit conduit for goods being shipped through the Caucasus, and geographical features such as Georgia's Black Sea coast, mountains, and rich cultural history offer strong tourist potential. Other attributes include an educated labor force, widespread land ownership, and a long tradition of entrepreneurship. Fertile land and a favorable climate enable diverse agricultural production, including a range of fruits and vegetables, livestock, dairy products, nuts, and tea. The country has a long history of viticulture and some 500 varieties of grapes are cultivated. Recent investments in oil exploration have indicated significant oil and gas potential. Other physical resources include manganese, iron, coal, copper, gold, granite, limestone, marble, and mineral waters. Dense forests cover one third of the country and numerous fast-flowing rivers offer good hydropower potential.
This year Georgia entered the ranks of the top 25 most business friendly countries worldwide, according to the World Bank's Doing Business 2008. Georgia is ranked 18th out of 178 economies rated by the Doing Business report, a 19 position increase compared to last year. Georgia has been among the top ten reforming countries for the last three years in a row.
Javier Prieto, one of the most important leaders of our country from both a business & a political perspective, presented us with a unique view of today's troubled economy. He talked about the threats the Mexican economy was facing and the opportunities we should pursue. From Chile to Spain, he covered several subjects such as leadership and motivation, focusing on how each and every one of us can make a difference whether in politics, business or as citizens to promote and ensure a better future.
We want to personally thank the people that attended the conference and look forward to promoting our next series of speakers.
Thank for your interest.
